Miss Sterling was worried about me. She contacted the local council and made me see the school social worker Alice. Alice started showing up at my house, asking questions and upsetting my mum. It wasn’t even anything to do with my mum. She didn’t know anything about the videos cos I never told her the password for my phone.

In the end Mum agreed to us working with a programme called Channel.

The council arranged for an Imam to speak with me. We had six meetings where he talked to me alone. He listened to what I had to say and taught me that the Quran says “Humanity is but a single brotherhood: So make peace with your brethren.” I liked him, he was like a mentor.

Then other people from the local council came. They talked to us all about my dad, and about what happened at school. The Imam and local council really helped us. They even got my mum to talk about stuff. She’s got this women’s group now where she’s made friends, and she does these online safety classes. You can tell she’s trying really hard to help us.

My doctor spoke to me about my problems and why I bite the skin on my hands. He gave some medicine to help. School’s a bit better too now that I’m getting lessons for my English. The kids in school are still mean to me sometimes, but I go to Young Leaders group now and I have friends there. My new friends are kinder, we have a laugh too.

When I think back to the things I used to say it makes me embarrassed. In the future I’m going to teach other kids how to deal with their problems in a positive way.
